Have you ever parked your car in a busy place and had difficulty finding it? Or maybe you’re sharing a car with others and want an easy way to share your location.

Although you can use the Finder tag in your car, it will need to keep its battery charged. So why not get something useful that has built-in Finder tags? Maybe something like an in-car charger?

I recently found a similar product Scosche FoundITA dual-USB port 12V car charger – a small device with some unique features.

Externally, the FoundIT looks like any other 12V in-car charger. It has two USB ports: a 20W max USB-C port and a 12W max USB-A port, both of which can be used simultaneously so you can charge two devices at once.

yes, there are More Mighty car charger It’s better suited for charging larger devices like laptops – but I’ll bet most of us are more concerned about smartphones, tablets or smartwatches. For these gadgets, this is more than enough power.

Also: The wireless charger I recommend to die-hard Apple fans costs just $20 (but can do a lot more)

In my tests, this charger has no problem handling the full 32W output for hours at a stretch without any signs of overheating.

But there’s so much more to this little device. Inside there’s a Finder tag that’s compatible with both Apple Find My and Google Find Hub (when setting up the device you have two options as to which platform you want to use). Once set up, it works like any other finder tag, and you use the built-in app on your iPhone or Android device to locate your vehicle.

It is small yet surprisingly powerful.

Performance is on par with the best third-party finder tags I’ve tested, and even in a vehicle I get about 100 feet of Bluetooth range of sight, and location accuracy on maps in the Find My app has always been spot on.

Also: I extended my AirTags’ battery life by 10 years with this $15 accessory — how it works

But what happens when the vehicle is turned off, or the charger is unplugged from the 12V port? Scosche planned for this, and built a rechargeable battery into the unit that automatically tops up when the unit is plugged into the car. It’s a nice touch.

The battery lasts for three months, so it can be unplugged for a long time before it gets dark. One thing worth noting is that I had to charge my FoundIT for a while before I could activate it, so maybe plan on this when doing your set up (take it for a little drive before setting it up).

Also: These are the closest things to AirTags for Android users (and in some ways even better)

Is your FoundIt lost somewhere under the seat? Don’t be afraid, because the built-in 60dB speaker will help you find it quickly. Scosche really has every situation covered.

ZDNET’s shopping advice

At $25, Scosche FoundIT This is a great buy for those who have been stuck searching for their car. And because it is compatible with Apple Find My and Google Find Hub, it cannot be used for nefarious purposes as it would announce its presence.

Even in vehicles that have lots of built-in ports — the Mazda 3 in which I tested this charger had at least five USB-C ports — you can never have enough, especially when traveling with kids or friends. Add Finder capability, and it’s a really neat gadget.
