OpenAI has announced a new version of its ChatGPT Pro subscription priced at $100 per month. The new Pro tier offers “5x more” use of its Codex coding tools than the $20 per month Plus subscription and is “best for long, high-effort Codex sessions.” OpenAI says.
The company is introducing the new level as it tries to win over users with Anthropic and its popular cloud code tool. ChatGPT’s $100 per month option will compete directly with Anthropic’s “Max” tier for cloud, which is also priced similarly. It also offers a middle ground between the $20 per month Plus tier and the $200 Pro tier.
(Yes, there are now two levels of “Pro”; while new level “Still provides access to all Pro features,” OpenAI says, but it’s more expensive usage limit too high.)
According for OpenAIChatGPT Plus “remains the best offering at $20 for stable, daily use of codecs, and the new $100 Pro tier offers a more accessible upgrade path for heavy daily use.” OpenAI also offers an $8 per month Go tier and a free tier.
