ZDNET Highlights

  • dyson pencilvac On sale today for $599.
  • This is the thinnest stick vacuum available in the market with a 1.5 inch diameter handle.
  • The motor inside is Dyson’s fastest and smallest motor yet.

We haven’t heard much from Dyson about the PencilVac since the company’s showcase event in May 2025. So far: dyson pencilvac Just went on sale.

This is Dyson’s thinnest vacuum ever. There’s no protruding dust canister, as the PencilVac’s dustpan is built into the vacuum’s extension rod. The result: a vacuum that’s light, slim, and unwieldy to look at.

Also: I spent several weeks with Alexa on the Echo Show 11, and it was wonderful (until I started fact-checking).

People of different ages and abilities find the Pencilvac easy enough to handle. Also innovative is the vacuum’s cleaning head, which Dyson calls FluffyCons — yes, that’s a trademarked name — that replaces the traditional roller brush. The four cones rotate in opposite directions to detangle hair during vacuum cleaning, so you don’t have to go in and detangle hair with the roller after each session.

The vacuum’s motor is built into the rod, making it Dyson’s smallest but fastest motor. Despite being small enough to fit into a 1.5-inch-wide tube, the powerful motor spins up to 140,000 RPM and provides 50 AW of suction.

The robot has two green lights to illuminate dirt and debris on the front and back of the vacuum, and it can clean both ways.

Also: This $20 smart remote has completely changed the way I use Alexa at home

Dyson is selling the PencilVac as a cordless vacuum for design-conscious homes. In fact, it’s much more than that: it’s the thinnest, lightest, and most compact cordless vacuum on the market. While this alone makes the PencilVac an industry leader, users will benefit from the vacuum’s lightweight construction, which lets it clean high areas like ceiling fans, shelves, and curtains with one of the included attachments.

Although small and slim, the Pencilvac isn’t cheap. Dyson currently lists it for $599, available now. Other manufacturers are developing their own versions of lightweight cordless vacuums, so we expect to see similar options hit the market later this year.
