A Bengaluru startup is rewriting the rules of AI by making the technology speak the language of India – literally.
For decades, India’s 1.4 billion people have watched artificial intelligence evolve – but rarely in their own language. While Silicon Valley giants created powerful AI systems, they primarily spoke English. A farmer in Uttar Pradesh asking about crop prices in Hindi, or a government clerk in Tamil Nadu processing documents in Tamil faced the same hurdle: AI was not built for them.
Sarvam AI is a Bengaluru-based startup that is revolutionizing artificial intelligence by building models that excel in Indian languages, outperforming global competitors like Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
