ChatGPT is joining the flood of apps offering annual recaps for users. Its “Year in Review” feature being introduced It’ll show you a bunch of statistics — like how many messages you sent to chatbots in 2025 — as well as give you an AI-generated pixel art-style image that covers some of the topics we talked about this year.
The image I received shows an aquarium next to a game cartridge, an Instant Pot, and a computer screen, which reflects some of the questions I have related to retro game consoles, cooking, and my fish tank setup.
There are other personalized summaries, too, like a list of the most trending topics in your chats, details of your chat style, and which days you sent the most messages to the chatbot. You’ll also see an “Archetype” that puts you in a category based on how you’ve been using the app this year, like “Maker” or “Navigator,” with a customized award, like the one I got: “Instant Pot Prodigy.”
The Annual Recap is now rolling out to users in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. This is only available if you have allowed ChatGPT to reference your past conversations and personal preferences. You can find your Review Year by selecting the option on the homepage of the ChatGPT app on mobile or desktop, or by asking ChatGPT to “Show my Year in Review.”
