At MWC 2026, Motorola released a ton of information about the upcoming Motorola Razr Fold, the company’s first book-style foldable. Details include a price of €1,999 in the European market, which is part of a bundle with the Moto Razr Fold and Moto Pen Ultra.

Notably, the Razer Fold supports stylus input on both internal and external screens, which is an advantage over competing models from Samsung and Google. Motorola has also released most of the device’s specifications, as I’ll explain below.

The external screen will be a 6.6-inch polarized screen with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. The internal screen will be 8.1 inches, making it the largest in North America. It will run on Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and come with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The cameras will be the same as seen on the Motorola Signature – ultrawide, 50-megapixel sensor on the main and 3x optical zoom. With the exception of the processor, these are exceptional specifications across the board. We’ll have to wait until we get a full review of the device for actual performance and camera quality.

Motorola also introduced a FIFA Edition of the Motorola Razr Fold, complementing the FIFA Edition Flip at CES. This is a huge partnership with the world’s most popular sport where the world will play for a title that year. It’s all played very well.

The $2,000 elephant in the room

However, the €1,999 price tag (which converts to about $2,320 not considering region-based adjustments) raised eyebrows, and that was expected. That’s an eye-wateringly high price, especially for Motorola’s first time with a book-style foldable out of the gate. But overall, I can live with the price for several reasons.

First of all, as mentioned, the €1,999 price is a bundle that includes a €100 accessory, so it’s actually €1,899. The Pen Ultra is a great little device that, sadly, isn’t siloed into the phone itself, but it does come with its own carrying case. This is an active stylus that has some great features in its own right, like pressure sensitivity, a quick-action button, and a smart menu of options on demand.

Secondly, while the processor leaves something to be desired (and not really). He A lot), otherwise the phone has a lot of firsts, including the first triple 50-megapixel camera ever set on a North American foldable, the biggest and brightest screen ever, and the biggest battery ever. It has a 6,000mAh silicon carbon battery, and is capable of up to 80W fast charging, which matches OnePlus’s 2023 (and only) foldable, the OnePlus Open.

Motorola Razr Fold vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

The phone is slightly thicker than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, and its battery is over 40% larger and charges faster. This phone is no slouch. I took the Honor Magic V5 to IFA 2025 and CES 2026 because I wanted a book-style foldable with long battery life, and the Fold 7 didn’t fit that bill. There will definitely be a Motorola Razr Fold.

Third, this phone will likely have a very balanced, all-around great camera experience. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a 200-megapixel main sensor, but after that things go haywire very quickly. Meanwhile, the three 50-megapixel cameras should deliver a more consistent all-around experience.

patience is important

Finally, there is one undeniable fact worth considering. This is a Motorola phone, and the company’s MO has long been planning to launch a phone at a high price and put it on permanent sale a few weeks later. At the time of publishing, the Moto Razr Ultra, which has an MSRP of $1,499, can be had for just $799. So if you don’t want to pay €1,999, wait a few weeks.

Of course, this is all controversial as we haven’t received US pricing or availability dates. So, for now, there’s no reason to lose sleep over this price. If you want to lose sleep, do it because you’re excited that a cool foldable phone is coming to America.
