Elon Musk said on Wednesday he was not aware of any “nude underage images” created by XAI’s Grok, as scrutiny of the AI tool intensified around the world.

Musk reiterated that Grok was programmed to reject illegal requests and must follow the laws of any country or state.
“Apparently, Grok does not generate images automatically, it only does so per user request,” Musk said.
Musk previously said on X that anyone using Grok to create illegal content would face the same consequences as if they had uploaded illegal content.
Three Democratic US senators last week called on Apple and Alphabet’s Google to remove X and its built-in AI tool Grok from their app stores, citing the proliferation of non-consensual sexual images of women and minors on the platform.
A coalition of women’s groups, tech watchdogs and progressive activists also called on the tech giants to take a similar step.
Last week, X reduced Grok’s ability to publicly create or edit images for many users, though industry experts and watchdogs have said that Grok was still capable of producing sexually explicit images, and restrictions, such as making certain features paid, cannot completely block access to deep AI image tools.
In Britain, the law is set to change this week to criminalize the creation of such images and Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on Wednesday that Ax is working to comply with the new rules. Communications regulator Ofcom is investigating the AI tool.
Countries like Malaysia and Indonesia have already blocked access to Grok and are taking legal action against X and Musk’s XAI, accusing them of failure to prevent harmful content and protect users.
