As someone who suffers from headaches and migraines, I have a arsenal of tools that I use when one strikes. I have a massage gun, a shoulder massager, a foam roller, posture corrector, and more, but one tool I keep coming back to is the Renfo Eye Massager.
That’s why, when Renfo launched a new, upgraded version of its basic eye massager, the Renfo Iris Zen, with built-in meditation, I jumped at the opportunity to try it out.

The Renfo Iris Zen Massager is thinner, quieter, and lasts longer on a single charge than my old Renfo Iris 1 device. It has three massage modes (temples only, eyes only, and eyes and temples), three heat settings, and two air pressure intensities. Unlike older models, one thing this eye massager is missing is vibration, but I never liked that setting as much as the massage mode.
However, what really sets this new model apart from other Renfo devices is the built-in mediation. Meditation is consistently cited for benefits like reduced stress and anxiety, better sleep, and, yes, headache relief. Some? Studies suggest People who consistently practice meditation are likely to have less frequency of migraine headaches.
You can choose from nine built-in meditations from Headspace (the viral meditation app), ranging from relaxation and stress relief to breathing exercises to relax muscles and calm yourself. Listening to meditation when I had a headache helped me focus on my breathing and body instead of the fact that my head was throbbing.
You can also connect the mask to your phone via Bluetooth to play your own music or sounds, depending on what helps with your headache pain.
I used Renfo Zen every night for five nights to replace my scrolling habit before bed, and it made a huge difference in how quickly I fell asleep and how my eyes felt at the end of the day. I don’t wake up with a headache in the morning like I usually do.

When you purchase Renfo Zen, you get two months of free subscription headspace app With access to the app’s full library of guided meditations. (After the two-month trial ends, you’ll need to pay $13 per month for the subscription.)
Even though this is an upgraded version of the original Renfo Eye Massager, I found my original massager a little easier to control. For the Renfo Iris Zen, you control power, attention type, volume, and Bluetooth mode all from the main power button, which can be difficult to operate (especially when wearing a mask). I wish it came with a remote to control these features, but after a few sessions, I became accustomed to the controls.
The Renfo Zen retails for $130, making it the most expensive device in Renfo’s wide range of eye massagers.
ZDNET’s shopping advice
Renfo Iris Zen Massager My new favorite tool for headaches and a nighttime essential to rest my eyes after a screen-straining day. Built-in meditation has helped me develop a better meditation routine and technique, something I wanted to do but couldn’t find the time or way to do.
I recommend this eye massager to any health lover who needs pain relief and relaxation. However, if you want a cheaper model, or meditation is not for you, Renfo Iris 3 This is a more basic model that still helps with headaches and eye strain, and is currently on sale for $80.
