When two researchers who taught machines to design computer chips left to start their own company, they were not chasing another chatbot. Goldie and Mirhoseini worked together at Google Brain and were early employees at Anthropic. At Google they created AlphaChip, an AI system that could generate strong chip layouts in hours rather than the many months human designers typically need — work that helped design multiple generations of Google’s Tensor Processing Units. Mirhoseini is also an assistant professor at Stanford, where she directs a lab focused on scalable, self-improving AI. At Ricursive, Goldie serves as CEO and Mirhoseini as CTO.
