The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finalized the repeal of mercury and air toxicity standards that the Biden administration strengthened through 2024. The Trump administration is rolling back the standards to where they were in 2012 when the Obama administration initially established them. Weakening the rules is expected to save $78 million every year through 2028, according to one EPA fact sheet.
